She was 8lbs 12 ozs. She is a healthy and content baby. Very sweet. We are enjoying how much Autumn and Elliot love their little sister. Autumn wants to always keep her warm and comfy with blankets and stuffed animals. Elliot wants to keep her happy by sharing his cars. Very sweet.

Jeremy and I are excited to see how our family grows closer together as time passes and who these kids grow up to be. It seems to be sometimes that there is no harder task in life than to raise a family and be parents, but it is sooo worth it.

So here is our first family pumpkin carving day. Not only was it our family’s first pumpkin carving, it was mine too. We all had a blast. We got some apple cider out, some of the kids music they love, and all the tools needed to carve. It was a real joy to see both of the kids enjoying the time as a family, but watching Elliot want to dig in and help Daddy wash the pumpkin, dig out the seeds, and carve with the “power tool” warmed my heart.

I am so proud of my husband. Jeremy took his Civil Engineering Professional License Exam in California at the end of October. We have been patiantly waiting and then not so patiently waitng to hear the results, which took us 3 months. We found out Saturday he passed. Whewwwww! It is so nice that it is done and over with. He is now a Professional Licensed Engineer in California. He only needs to work another year and a half before he gets it here in Oregon. What a blessing. No more tests!

I am enjoying watching our kids love one another. Autumn loves her brother and makes sure he is totally comfortable at all times. She loves putting a blanket over him (even if it is over his face). She puts the pacifier in his mouth (even though he spits it right out. Neither of them liked the pacifier much). She even tries to feed him his bottle. I am so excited to see them grow up together and play together.

Autumn took right to potty training at 11 months, but it has taken over 7 months for her to be potty trained. She however, is now trained before she is two and near the time of her brothers birth. Only one child in diapers was my ultimate goal. For us we found different phases in training Autumn. There was the purely parental timing in taking her to the potty. Then their was the milestone of her being able to sign “potty” and then not long after that she was able to verbalize “potty”. She then used “potty” only to go pooh and then it became a manipulative tool for her to get away from whatever unwanted task mommy and daddy wanted her to do. Then came a time when she was just in panties and started holding her pee until she got to the potty and then she finally started verbalizing when she needed to go potty and when asked if she had to go she would reply with a “no” or a nod of the head. For me it has been a long arduous journey, but an awefilling experience observing my child’s mental, verbal, and physical development.

We had our baby boy Elliot Joel about 48 hours ago. (He was born June 9th) Carri did a fantastic job laboring and pushing without drugs. We made it to the hospital at about 11:30 and Elliot was born at 4:33 am. He weighed 7 pounds 13.5 ounces (2.5 ounces more than Autumn) and was about 19 inches long. He actually looks a lot like Autumn did when she was born. Carri is recovering very well– considerablly less trauma to the body compared to autumn’s birth. I am sure that Carri will update this sometime when she is feeling better and give you all the details. Here is a few quick photos that we have online now.
