One night in early December Jeremy turned to me at dinner and asked me, “What rhymes with Autumn.” He wanted to find a cute nickname for her. All we could come up with is “Bottom.” Sorry to say the name has stuck. I started saying it because it was sing-songy in my head. Now we both say it, “Autumn Bottom, how’s our girl . . . Autumn Bottom, are you going to smile?” Our girl will be scarred for life when she finds out her little nickname.
